Hoax Alert: "Pentagon Funnels Funds to Anthony Fauci to Create Covid-19 Virus"
An account on Instagram posted an image with the caption that the Pentagon funneled large funds to National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Director Anthony Fauci and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to create a new, modified virus in the lab.
In fact, the information is false.
Based on various studies on the genome sequence data available for coronavirus strains, it was concluded that SARS-CoV-2 originated from natural processes, not laboratory engineering.
