During the Pandemic Transition, KPCPEN Returns the Program to the Ministry

Entering the transition period of the Covid-19 pandemic, various programs handled by the Committee for Handling Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN) will be returned and handled by the respective ministries/agencies. This was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto in his statement to the media crew after attending the opening of the PC-PEN Transition National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) at the AA Maramis Building, Jakarta, on Thursday, January 26 2023.

"All the programs handled by KPCPEN yesterday were managed by their respective ministries/institutions," said Airlangga.

The program includes the handling of Covid-19 whose programs and budgeting are returned to the Ministry of Health, as well as social protection programs which are returned to the Ministry of Social Affairs.

"Then related to economic recovery, enter each sector," said Airlangga.

Airlangga also said that currently Indonesia is entering a period of known uncertainty where uncertainty still occurs and creates a number of threats. One of the threats that occurs is stagflation, where several countries continue to raise interest rates, including the United States.

"Therefore, we must take an umbrella before it rains. Then the export proceeds must become a buffer for our economy, then the P2SK Law becomes a buffer in the financial sector, so that in this way we are all better prepared," said Airlangga.

On this occasion, Airlangga also said that currently the government is preparing a government regulation (PP) which regulates exporters to store export proceeds domestically for three months. According to Airlangga, the government took this step to prevent the foreign exchange from going abroad.

"To prevent capital flights, we must have sufficient funds, especially to finance exports and imports, the need for exports and imports is real, when the export-import needs are provided with foreign exchange from exports and imports, we will prepare a foreign exchange ecosystem or a domestic dollar ecosystem. so that our entrepreneurs do not only depend on banking in Singapore," said Airlangga.

Therefore, Indonesia will provide incentives to exporters who save foreign exchange from exports domestically. Airlangga said the incentives would compete with the attractions provided by Singapore.

"We need to make it compete with Singapore so that it doesn't fly (foreign exchange) to Singapore anymore," said Airlangga.
