Opening the National Coordination Meeting of the PC-PEN Transition, the President Appreciates the Hard Work of the Staff in Handling the Pandemic

President Joko Widodo officially opened the National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) for the Transition of Covid-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery (PC-PEN), which was held at the AA Maramis Building, Ministry of Finance, Jakarta, on Thursday, January 26 2023. In his remarks, the Head The state appreciates its staff in handling the Covid-19 pandemic and the Indonesian economy.

"I want to express my gratitude to all of you and all staff from the central level to the village level who have worked hard for three years in dealing with the pandemic and overcoming our economy," said the President.

The President considers that the challenge of dealing with a pandemic is not an easy one. Moreover, at the same time they also have to deal with challenges that have an impact on the Indonesian economy.

"It was a very difficult challenge, a very serious problem that we faced at that time and there was no standard or standard. Because we all did not have experience in dealing with this pandemic," said the Head of State.

Furthermore, the Head of State appealed to his staff to remain vigilant in making policies primarily in the economic sector. The President said, currently Indonesia's economic position is in good condition.

"After we withdraw PPKM at the end of 2022, this period is a transitional period, and we still have to be vigilant, careful in deciding our main economic policies, we are currently in a very good position. The third quarter was at 5.72 ( percent), and year on year in 2022 like before, the Coordinating Minister for Airlangga said 5.3 (percent). If that is achieved, I think it is a very good achievement that we can achieve," said the President.

Previously, on the same occasion, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto estimated that economic growth in 2022 would reach 5.3 percent year on year.

"Covid-19 both at the global and national levels is under control, the rate of cases is slowing but new variants are still emerging. The economic recovery continues, Indonesia's economy grows convincingly above 5 percent throughout 2022, and it is estimated that year on year can be reached at number 5 .3 percent," said Airlangga.

Accompanying the President at the event were Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Acting. Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono.

Also present at the event were the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and TNI Commander Admiral TNI Yudo Margono.
