Information circulating on Facebook states that the mysterious acute kidney disorder that afflicts children is the effect of the Covid-19 vaccine. The post also stated that the government blamed paracetamol for the mysterious acute kidney disorder that befell children.

However, upon investigation, this is not true. Launch gatra.com, dr. Mohammad Syahril, spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Health said that the mixture of ethylene glycol (EG) and diethylene glycol (DEG) compounds in syrup is the main cause of acute kidney failure in children.

This is known from a series of studies conducted by the Ministry of Health together with RSUPN Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo, Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI), epidemiologist, and forensic expert in toxicology regarding cases of acute kidney failure in children which started to increase in late August, September and October.

Launching kontan.id, the Ministry of Health (Kemkes) noted that there were no additional cases of mysterious acute kidney failure in children after the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) announced 73 drugs that were banned from circulation.

Based on the explanation above, the claim of Mysterious Acute Kidney Disorder in Children Caused by the Covid-19 Vaccine is false, and is included in the category of misleading content.
