Health Protocols Is Integral In School Opening Considerations

JAKARTA - Currently, face-to-face learning in schools has been allowed by the government.  Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makarim has decided that even semester 2020/2021 can be done face-to-face at school.

"However, the final decision is entirely in the hands of the local government, education offices, schools and parents of students. And with due regard to the readiness of facilities and infrastructure to implement health protocols," Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Prof. Wiku Adisasmito in the International Press Briefing at the Jakarta Presidential Palace , Thursday (11/2/2021) broadcast on the Secretariat YouTube channel.

Regional governments and education providers are also expected to make thorough preparations including implementing simulations and implementing face-to-face schools in stages.  "We hope that the authority entrusted by the central government to regional governments can be carried out well, namely on the basis of careful preparation including the implementation of simulations and phased openings," continued Wiku.

On the other hand, the social and economic sectors have started operating since last year with adjustments to capacity limitations.  The setting of operating hours is adjusted to the decisions taken by the regional head.  However, specifically for the Java-Bali Island region which is currently implementing PPKM until February 22, the maximum capacity will reach 50% based on the Ministry of Home Affairs Instruction No.3 of 2021.

The decision of this Gas Brake Policy must be taken wisely and with care.  The government strives to keep people productive while maintaining their safety.  In principle, during this pandemic, public health and safety is the government's priority.
